THE END

Well...this is the end of our incredible adventure. We have traveled 5293 miles total. I cannot belive it. Lord, thank you so much for your protection, encouragment and the beauty you created for us to see. For bringing us home safely. Thank you to all of our friends and family for your thoughts and prayers and for keeping tabs on us. I wonder what Ron has planned now? Stay tuned for the next adventure......?!!!

MONDAY, THE 27TH

Can you belive it......only 67 miles to Salt Lake City!! I cannot believe how hot it is. We keep pouring water on us under our jackets to act like air conditioners. We smell like wet puppies!! It will be good to be home.
Usally I'm riding in the back, but TODAY!! i'm leading the pack. Ron thinks I am ready to go home.

We got up early in Onterio, Oregon to beat the heat and the traffic as we go through Boise, Idaho. We really got a treat with this sunrise!!

SUNDAY, JULY 26TH

Only 348 miles to go to get to Ontario. We are on our way home. We are noticing a significant weather change. It is getting warmer by the mile.
So guess where we had breakfast in Portland?

SATURDAY, JULY 25TH

Isn't the ocean awesome? We left the land of Twilight and headed down Hwy 101 down the coast on our way to Portland, Oregon. The coastline was inspiring. Some of the trees with the mist was eerily quiet. We finally broke out into sunshine....Yeah!!

FRIDAY, JULY 24TH

So we have now traveled from Bellingham, Washington to Forks, Washington. We have been riding all day and get into town and there are no rooms at the inn. We try every motel and they are all booked. Ever here of the movie and book, Twilight? Evidently all lot of it takes place here and every teenage girl in 15 countries comes here to take pictures....Go figure! By the grace of God we did get a room last minute.

FRIDAY, 24TH OF JULY

So, we get off the ferry inBellingham this morning and drive to Whitby island and here we are....waiting for another ferry to take us to the other side so we can drive to Forks, Washington.
Can you belive all the bikes. At least this ferry only took a half and hour.
Have you ever seen anything so beautiful? This is from the deck of our ferry our last night.

WED AND THURS

My Man...isn't he cute. He loves his coffee!
Here is Ron on the ferry. And look more water. We have now been on the ferry three and a half days. We offboard tommorow in Bellingham, Wahington at 8:00 a.m. Yea!!!
This is our cozy bunk beds on the ferry!! I just love the decor.......This is our room for the next four days!

MONDAY THE 20TH

These are all the bikes strapped down in the hold of the ferry. Mines the last one with the jacket on it. Quite amazing how they figure all this stuff.
We are in line behind the rest of these bikes to load on the ferry. This is 6p.m. Monday night. This will take us four days on the boat and drop us off in Bellingham, Washington.

Ron hiking the Chilkoot trail....(whatever)! In 1897-98 over 30,000 people hiked up the White Pass and Chilkoot trails seeking their fortunes in Yukon, Only half ever made it and very few of those actually found gold. Unbelievable hardships.

SUNDAY, JULY 19TH

Haines Jctn, Canada to Skagway, Alaska

Isn't this beautiful? Looking down into Skagway, Alaska from the top of the mountain we just crossed. Too cool...

Saturday, July 18, 2009

The sign says Alaska. We are leaving Alaska, crossing through into Canada today. Tommorow is the big push back into Skagway. We will be there for a day and a half before getting on the ferry. I think Ron was really tired at this point.....but I'm still smiling. Ha, Ha.

This was one of the many lakes we had to drive around. It was ginormous!! We just kept going around and around and around.

Friday, July 17, 2009

So much scenery to see. Miles and miles and miles and miles of it. Lots of trees and mountains.
The North Pole...who would've believed it. Yep, we drove right through the North Pole today. The day was truly beautiful. Great weather. We rode back down to Tok, Alasaka to spend the night and then we will head out to Haines Jctn. tommorow.

Thursday, July 16, 2009

We stopped at the Hilltop diner. Sara ate here. Ron was thrilled..This is my new friend! He is one of the stars on "ICE ROAD TRUCKERS" I have no idea what his name is but he was very friendly...!
What can we say??

ALMOST TO THE ARTIC CIRCLE

We finally made it to the Dalton Hwy!!This is the road that goes to the Artic Circle approx. 140 miles from here. The pavement ends and the gravel begins. It was so rough and full of pot holes that it shook the bike to pieces. We decided to stop there and return to Fairbanks and took a nap...so tired!!! I was disappointed for Ron that he didn't get to the Circle, but it was unsafe to go any further. Oh well, he's happy!
This country is so beautiful...but I think we hit the rainy season. Everyday we have been in rain. We went 200 miles today which with road construction, rain and watching for local wildlife is a long ride, and made it to Fairbanks...YEAH!! Tommorow we are going to try to make it up the pipeline road to the Artic Circle. We heard that section of road is really bad for our type of bikes, but we'll see.

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

This mile marker is 1235 from the begining of the Dawson Hwy which is the begining of the Alaskan Canadian Road. When all is done we have gone 3000 miles. What was I on drugs when I said I would do this?

This is the view in my rear view mirror on the whole trip......(that's Tanna)!!!!
